Layout Update 11-16-15
Wiring, water and pilings. October had us starting to wire the layout. Soon we'll be able to run an engine under its own power.
While one crew was doing the electrical work, another was working on painting the water along the edge of the layout and installing all the pilings and cribbing.

Some close-ups of the different pilings and railings.
Looking over the dock at the pilings around the tug and lighter slip.
More pilings. Sorry, we're probably more excited about these than you probably are. There's a lot of busy work that goes into making these and you don't see the payoff of cutting hundreds of 1-1/2 to 2 in dowels and staining them until you install them.
An overhead of the float and apron. The pilings and concrete base are now permanent.

Cribbing and piling. We've turned into marine structure geeks.
Another piling transition.
Here's what 35 feet of cribbing and pilings look like. The previous shots were not of the same section. It just keeps on going and going and going……
Rich is one of the two people who installed all the pilings.

Here's Rich putting in the individual pilings.
Finally a quick movie from when the mainline track was completed. The train travels 40 foot eastbound, around the 'hidden' return loop then back 40 foot westbound. I'll make another one with an engine after all the wiring is completed.
